Have you heard about our NEW student council? In order to increase student leadership at our school, we have changed our student council structure. The student council is made up of 6 different interest cabinets: Cougar Cub Community, Character Crew, Fine Arts, Hospitality, Math and Science, and Service Learning. Each cabinet has a 5th grade chair and a 4th grade co-chair. Chairs and co-chairs meet quarterly for leadership training with Mrs. Thacher. We look forward to expanding the student council even more as we grow!
Starting this month:
Kindergarten-2nd grade: Cool Cats (relaxation and emotion management)
4th Grade: Get Along Girls (group for ALL 4th grade girls to address friendships and relational aggression)
2nd-5th Grade: Secret Agents of Kindness (selected students will perform secret kindness missions)
Rolesville Elementary is participating in the nationwide Great Kindness Challenge. Each morning, the kind deed of the day is read over the announcements. Students are challenged to complete as many kind deeds as possible this month. At the end of the month, students who complete kind deeds can fill out a “Challenge Completed!” card and be entered into a drawing for a prize. Check out the bulletin board outside the counseling office for the daily challenges!
The Service Learning Cabinet of the Student Council is sponsoring Operation Give Warmth, a mitten drive, the week of January 9th-13th. Please donate your new hats, gloves, scarves, earmuffs, and of course, mittens! All items will be given to Tri-Area Ministries to benefit needy children and adults in our area.
